About...

Ballet slippers, tutus, and tiaras are what mommy and daddy always dream of, but for Jimmy and Debbie Keys that dream was going to be very different. Kalen came out with a pistol-packing attitude, trading in her ballet slippers for cowboy boots and a hat. From the time she was a child her rough and tumble attitude always had its way of showing through. Some would say she was just plain mean, others would say she “just meant business”. Her Sunday best didn’t get much better than a pearl snap shirt and her favorite pair of scuffed up boots.
As she grew and the boots got bigger, her style developed into something of her own. The boots were paired with a dress, which was paired with a strand of pearls, and mommy and daddy's princess was shining through.
Testing out her country roots she moved herself to start her college career at the University of Alabama, with the thought that a John Wayne attitude was all she needed. Unfortunately the ways of the southern belles in Alabama was not what she was looking for. So she packed up her boots, her torn up jeans, and what was left of her dress collection and headed back to Tampa. She finished out her bachelor’s degree in Communications at the University of Tampa, all the while consuming herself in the world of country music at a local radio statio
She never lost her love for her own style, the world of country music, and her “just mean business” attitude. As college ended and the not so straight path formed, she knew she had to follow her dream and give the world what they always needed- a store filled with pearls and dresses, but packed full of a boot kickin’ attitude.
One year later to the day, Keys Country opened it’s doors to the Tampa Bay community…In her pearls and her boots, Kalen means nothing but business.
